It was announced today that Remicade will be listed on the PBS for Crohns disease and made available from October 2007, I would like to thank each and every person who helped us make this possible.
Now for the first time many thousands of Australians suffering with this terrible disease will finally get some decent medication and be able to lead a normal life!!!

Infliximab-Remicade is currently not on the PBS (Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme)
for the treatment of Crohn’s Disease and Ulcerative Colitis. Clinical trials have been conducted in the
past few years and have had a very positive response as to the effects it has in
the maintenance of Crohn’s and Ulcerative Colitis.
Australian
Crohn’s & Colitis Association along with their members have been actively
lobbying for the acknowledgement of Infliximab by the Health Minister
Mr Tony Abbott
in order to have it on the PBS.
Hopefully this Initiative will unite us in bringing further awareness to the
benefits of Infliximab and consequently the approval onto the PBS as I know in
some cases it is the only therapy in maintaining a quality of life.
